On the eastern shores of Tanegashima Island （種子島）, the Takeyano Coastline （竹屋野海岸） is dotted with rugged rocky areas and beautiful sandy beaches. Although the strong currents and tides of the waves make this coastline unsuitable for swimming, the area is highly popular as a surfing spot.
