Amami Oshima Island - Nishikomi

Nishikomi (西古見) is almost the westernmost tip of Amami Oshima Island (奄美大島). Looking from the town out to the Oshima Channel (大島海峡), there are three small islands beautifully arranged in a line which can be seen. These islands are called the “Sanren Tachigami (三連立神)”, or the “Three Standing Gods”, and are large rocks worshipped as protective dieties for the region.
