Kirishima Onsen Hot Spring (Gajo-En)

Many natural hot springs can be found in the Kirishima mountain range（霧島山）, also known to be the home of “Tensonkorin” (the founding legend of Japan). The abundance of natural springs gave rise to many unique and excellent hot spring inns, some of which are known only to locals and regulars. It is said that the idea of having private outdoor baths in guest rooms, an extravagant luxury that is gaining much popularity in high class hotels throughout Japan, originated from Kirishima（霧島）.
